Frequently Asked Questions

How long does therapy take?

A counselling session is usually one hour, with talk therapy taking place in for 50 minutes. The remaining 10 minutes cover administrative time of completing and reviewing clinical notes. The number of therapy sessions needed varies for each client and is determined based on what you hope to achieve in therapy, which we will discuss during our initial intake session.

It's important to recognize that healing is a unique and individual process, and it may not always follow a linear path. Therapy allows for flexibility in the timeline of healing, as we work at your own pace and based on your specific needs.

What type of payment do you take?

I can take e-transfer and credit card. I do not bill directly; however, with an RCC designation, our sessions are covered under many extended health benefits plans. Please reach out to your insurance provider to know more.

How much are your fees?

My session rate is $150 CAD for individual sessions and $160 CAD for couples sessions. This rate complies with the fee schedule as offered by the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

What do I need for virtual sessions

I provide virtual sessions from the comfort of your home. To participate in virtual sessions, you will need a private space, a webcam, and a reliable internet connection. These basic requirements will allow us to connect and communicate effectively during our virtual sessions. Rest assured that I will take privacy and confidentiality seriously in our virtual sessions, and I will work with you to ensure a smooth and secure online therapy experience.

Do you offer in person sessions?

Yes! I currently have availability on Saturdays for in-person sessions. I am more than happy to wear a mask during our sessions if it makes you more comfortable. Your safety and comfort are a top priority, and I will ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to create a safe and conducive therapeutic environment. Unfortunately, the office is not currently wheelchair accessible.

While I commit to ongoing efforts to learn more how to work from an anti-oppressive framework, as a white settler there is lived experience I do not hold. If you are eager to work with a BIPOC counsellor, please check out Healing in Colour for a BIPOC therapist directory.
